Funding and prosthetics

Advancements in prosthetic technology.
Prosthetic technology has advanced considerably in the last 20 years, enabling people to live 'normal,' active lives.

Some recent developments have seen devices which can serve to prevent falls and make walking in the community much easier and safer for the end-user.

Sadly, funding restrictions on amputees over 65 years of age and therefore ineligible for support via the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) mean that for many, they are restricted to outdated technology which doesn't help people to live independently in their home, participate in community or contribute to the Australian economy.

Limbs 4 Life wants to see all governments fund individuals with the most appropriate prosthetics, enabling them to live active and fulfilled lives.
