Research and evaluation
Have you experienced the loss of a limb and found benefit or personal growth afterwards?
Dan Foley, trainee clinical psychologist, is researching the experience of post-traumatic growth and benefit finding, following limb-loss. The research project has been approved by the Lancaster University Faculty of Health and Medicine Research Ethics Committee.
The study will involve taking part in an interview lasting 45-60 minutes, with Dan Foley, trainee clinical psychologist. You will be asked to talk about your life experiences before limb-loss, how you lost your limb and the amputation experience, and how you have experienced positive personal growth or found benefit since losing your limb. Dan is inviting participants who speak English from around the world to take part, so the interviews will take place online via Microsoft Teams, or via telephone call. Access to Microsoft Teams is free, and details of how to use it will be provided. Data collected from the interview will be anonymised, and a pseudonym (false name) will be used in the write-up of the study. The research project has been approved by the Lancaster University Faculty of Health and Medicine Research Ethics Committee. For more information about the study and to volunteer to take part, please email Dan Foley.
