Limbs 4 Life have developed a 'Guide and Handbook for Amputees and People Living with Limb Differences'  who are transitioning into the NDIS. You can download this Guide via the link below.

The Guide also includes examples of goal setting and worksheets that you can use to fill out when setting your goals.

There are a number of things that you need to consider when transitioning into the NDIS:

  • You will need to have a minimum 4 hour consultation with a prosthetic clinician.
  • Don't forget to allow for repairs and prosthetic maintenance in your plan.
  • Have a think about the number of liners and/or stump socks you may need over the course of a year.
  • Are you considering trialing a different prosthetic foot, hand or knee? If so, you will need to allow for clinical trials so that your prosthetic clinician can include those trials as part of your plan.

Remember, if you leave something out of your plan, you can have it reviewed, however, if you can get it right the first time it will make the process easier in the long term.

As a participant of the NDIS it is very important that you can clearly outline your goals, how you will achieve your goals, and how your goals will assist you to live an ordinary life.

The NDIS uses the term 'Assistive Technology' or (AT) to refer to prosthetic devices and equipment.

If you think that you might need help to identify all of the equipment and services you use, you can download the 'Checklists' below.
